Le workshop
« Positionnant le cinéma comme un espace commun, cet atelier élargira la compréhension de la sonorité du film et de la vidéo à travers une application de la pensée musicale dans des expérimentations avec la pratique collective. Par exemple, les notions de l’ensemble, d'orchestration, d'improvisation, de « dubbing » et de « remixing » seront mises en relation avec des images en mouvement."

“I make films, I write, I research, I talk - these are the elements that constitute my practice - and they are used as tools for developing moments of collaboration and co-learning. With an overarching interest in the essay - both in terms of the possible forms an essay could take (film, text, lecture) and its etymological routing in the French essayer (to try) - I attempt to bring art and work together to create discursive objects/situations in order to begin conversations on topics that intertwine a variety of topics. More specifically I work towards an archaeological cinema that investigates political problems within institutional archives. Recently my work has moved towards a materialist reading of the digital and the space of the Internet as an archival/archaeological site within which resistance to capitalism and social control can be excavated and engendered.”
Louis Henderson is a filmmaker who is currently trying to find new ways of working with people to address and question our current global condition defined by racist capitalism and ever-present histories of the European colonial project. The working method is archaeological. Henderson has shown his work at places such as; Rotterdam International Film Festival, Doc Lisboa, CPH:DOX, New York Film Festival, The Contour Biennial, The Kiev Biennial, The Centre Pompidou, SAVVY Contemporary, The Gene Siskell Film Centre, Gasworks and Tate Britain. His work is in the public collection of the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, France and is distributed by Lux (UK) and Video Data Bank (USA).

Les étudiants doivent amener quelque chose à montrer ou écouter. Sois un objet fait par eux ou sinon un objet de quelqu’un d’autre. Une vidéo, un poème, un chanson, un clip-vidéo sur youtube - mais ils doivent le présenter et expliquer pourquoi ils ont choisi cet « thing » Ils seront demandés de penser ou et comment il peuvent ajouter (ou soustraire) un élément dans le film Black Code/Code Noir. L’idée ici est de voir ensemble si on peut proposer un nouveau remix du film Black Code/Code Noir.
